At Goose Master’s we use Border Collies trained/finished by Kuykendall’s Border Collies. The Kuykendall family has been actively involved with World Class Border Collies for over 60 years. Their goal is to produce dogs that have a good work ethic – Border Collies with a strong desire and intensity to work, however long the hours or tedious the job, while exhibiting a friendly, outgoing temperament.

Goose Masters is unique in that they are backed by one of the oldest and most recognized Border Collies breeders in the country, Kuykendall's’ Border Collies, who breeds, raises, and trains this amazing breed of dog. Kuykendall’s Border Collies have been a groundbreaking force for the goose control industry, for over 30 years. They are always forging their way in the industry, helping to make a positive impact on the environment with their goose dogs. Together both companies will help make the world a little greener.

We select only the best prospective Border Collies based on their individual characteristics, the characteristics that we feel important for the job of goose control, and wildlife management. They are trained at our training facility in central North Carolina on land as well as in the water, with both livestock and domestic birds. It can take several months to years before they are ready to be an apprentice and go on the road to learn the ropes of the real urban world of goose control.

Our dogs love to swim, which is extremely important when it comes to getting rid of pesky geese. Not all Border Collies make great goose dogs because they simply don’t get in the water. All the Border Collies used by Goose Masters are healthy, sound, and have stable, outgoing predictable temperaments. Goose Masters’ dogs and handlers are even matched so that they complement one another.
