Our company was founded in North Carolina but we are active in the Triad, Triangle, Charlotte, along the Coast, Florida and the Pacific Northwest At all of these locations we have geese year-round, this is because not all Canada geese migrate, these are known as residential.
Residential birds live in 365 days a year in the United States. Preferring areas that experience fewer weather changes and predators. As more suburban and urban areas are built, more geese become desensitized to humans and thrive with the benefits of living in the same area. Buildings provide shelter from the wind and rain, increased light provides protection from the few predators in the area, and man-made ponds and lakes provide great nesting locations, farms, golf courses, large lawns provide secure food sources.
North Carolina has over 100,000 residential Canada geese and an estimated 12,000 migratory birds in the winter. As residential geese have an extended breeding season (starting as early as late February compared to migratories April) their population is steadily increasing faster and more successfully than migratory birds. It has also been seen that residential geese can breed at a younger age than their migratory counterparts. This is believed to be caused by the residential geese stemming from domestic or semi-domestic Canada geese that were released in 1935. Domesticated geese can start laying as young as 1 year old, whereas wild will take until 3 years old to lay.
As a majority of the geese are residential, the problems they cause occur all year long. Goose Masters services year-round making sure any problem geese or goose problems can be dealt with. We rid properties of geese, whether it's 1 or over 100, a goose problem is no problem.
